Jun 23, 2001 - Yakima Speedway
Yakima Speedway was the debut for Twin Motor Sports second car! The #35 ZNETIX Chevrolet Monte Carlo was put to the test along side the #30 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and showed its potential!! Friday, was a day of working out the "bugs" on the new ride. Angela practiced on Friday at Yakima Speedway dealing with a crack in the radiator to blowing an oil line. She was only able to run about 25 laps. It was a rough practice day, but the team went back to work on Saturday cleaning up the car and making the fixes necessary to put the car back on the track for time on Saturday afternoon.
Saturday, at practice time on the track, Amber, in the #30 ZNETIX Chevrolet Monte Carlo, was able to keep the car at the bottom of the race track showing that the car was set up. The #35 car, with Angela at the wheel, was showing signs that the car was tight. Al made adjustments to loosen up the car before qualifying.
Angela took to the track to qualify the ZNETIX #35 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. She let Al know that the car was still tight in the middle (between the turns). Angela qualified at a 20.111. Amber hit the track aggressively, before her first lap, she spun the car coming out of turn four, getting the car turned around, she came in on her second lap with a 20.600. Both Amber and Angela were disappointed with their qualifying times. Amber new that her #30 ZNETIX Chevrolet Monte Carlo was better than the number she put down.
At 10:30 p.m., the Late Model Class took to the track for the Main Event. Amber in her #30 car gathered it together with Angela in the #35 car to show their strategic driving ability on the track as "Team Znetix". On the grid, Angela lined up in the 16th position and Amber in the 18th spot.
As the green flag was dropped, together, Amber and Angela dropped to the inside. On lap 3, Angela moved high in turn one to let the faster #30 Znetix car go by, then dropping back into position continued her race. Lap 10, a caution was thrown, #7 spun out in turn four. Angela radios in that her #35 ZNETIX Chevrolet Monte Carlo in loose. Crew Chief Al brings her in under the yellow flag on lap 12 to lower the track bar, which will tighten the car up, Angela is back on the track in front of the "Pace Car" keeping her on the lead lap. The green flag is thrown and Amber in the #30 car passes the #11 car on the outside, lap 18, the #35 car passes #11. Lap 19, #7 spins out and Angela skates by on the inside avoiding any contact. Under a yellow on lap 21, the #30 is in 14th position with Angela picking her way through in the 16th spot. Lap 22, another caution is thrown, Car #21 spins out. #30 and #35 get through without incident. On lap 25, Amber is in 13th and Angela in 15th. On lap 27, #35 passes the #3 and #21 cars. On lap 28, the #35 car is now behind the #30 car running in 13th and 14thposiitons. Together they pas the #12 car driven by Ron Bemis. Lap 41, another spin out. Amber and Angela are in the 10th and 11th positions. Lap 48, both Amber and Angela pass the #69 car in turn two. At lap 50, they are running 9th and 10th. On lap 53, Angela in her #35 car spins, going into turn one. Angela radioed that the car was lose coming in and coming out., Angela gets the car turned around and back on the track, putting her down one lap. On lap 57, the #21 car spins in turn three, Crew Chief Al radios to Angela to come into the pits to lower the tack bar to tighten the car up again. Angela is in and out fast enough to beat the "Pace Car". Adjustments to the right rear re-bond shock was also made to help tighten the car up. On lap 61, the 63 and 36 cars make contact and collect the #69 and #65 cars. Amber, with the help of her spotters, drove through the wreck unscathed, great job!! A red flag is thrown, the #69 car driven by Brandon Riehl, the points leader at Yakima Speedway, is unfortunately, out of the race. The green flag is thrown once again and the #30 ZNETIX car is running in the 6th position and the #35 car is in the 12th position. Jason Jefferson, the #97 car, is leading the race. On lap 70, Amber is passed by the #55 car in turn one. Amber radio's in that the car is getting loose. With five laps to go, Amber and Angela continue to finish without incident.

Amber: How does it feel to be back on the track racing side by side with your sister again?
I thought it was awesome to be able to race a stock car with my sister, Angela. It was something that we both have dreamed of doing since we were 11 years old. It was awesome to see Angela racing along side me during the race. Look out guys... here we come!!
Angela: How does it feel to be back on the track racing side by side with your sister again?
It was cool!! It was pretty awesome racing side by side, like it used to be!
Bob Lambert, crew member: The girls were very competitive and fast. Only the #97 and #69 cars were faster. They are getting better in traffic situations and passing with ease, you can see that they are getting more comfortable in their cars. Fridays practice was slow, we had problems with both cars, but on Saturday, things went so well with both cars finishing and running good, it made up for Fridays work and stress worth it!! Over all, it was a good week-end, the crew worked well together with two cars on the track.
