Jun 30, 2001 - Spanaway Speedway
This race was the first race TWIN MOTOR SPORTS has run at Spanaway Speedway, a 1/4 mile track. Both Amber and Angela have practiced numerous times on this track but have never been able to run mostly to due to "rain outs" in the previous season.
Amber was at the wheel of the #30 Znetix Chevrolet Monte Carlo during practice when the car was have some difficulties during the last practice session. After bringing the car in, the pit crew discovered that they had a broken axle. So the team went to work and replaced it, but Amber did not make it in time to qualify.
A field of 19 cars started the 100 lap race, Amber starting in the back of the pack with a repaired rear axle when the green flag was thrown. On lap 1, Amber passed the #25 car of Dave Cline on the back stretch. Caution on lap 5; lap 17, second caution, collecting the 21, 25, and 72 cars just in front of Amber, luckily she made it through without incident. On lap 25, she was running in 10th position with the #69 car of Bob Grady leading the race. Amber was being held up by the #11 car. She continuously tried to make numerous attempts to pass, but to know avail. On lap 57, she finally made the move around the #11 car putting her in the 8th position. On lap 62, Amber gets passed by the #3 car of Devin Eierman.
The remaining 35 laps Amber ran her #30 Znetix Chevrolet Monte Carlo consistently with the 3rd to 8th place cars running bumper to bumper for the rest of the race making passing difficult on the 1/4 mile track.
Amber stayed on the lead lap for the full 100 laps finishing in the 8th position. Terrific job Amber.
