Updates

May 31, 2003 - South Sound Speedway

Our practices before the race went really well!! We had two practice sessions before qualifying. Amber on old tires, was running 14.50 and Angela was running consistent 14.40.

When it was time to qualify, Angela went out and banged a 14.29, and Amber a 14.28. Pole went for a 14.26!

On the starting grid for the main, Amber ended up qualifying second and Angela fourth, with the invert being six, which set Amber fifth and Angela third. For the first seventy laps everybody stayed in their starting positions, there wasn't much jockeying around. Angela stayed tucked up on Hinkle, the #7 car in the third position. Angela had made many attempts to pass the #7 car on the outside, but the car was a little loose and wouldn't hold out there! Amber, on the other hand, was running in the 6th position, and holding on. The first caution flag came out on lap #74. When we went green, coming off in turn four, the first and second place cars took each other out, which put Angela in the lead with only 26 laps to go. Amber was running in 4th position, holding her own. The race finished up with Angela winning her first race with Amber coming in at 4th! Great job girls!!

Angela's comments: We had a great night! Wow, our first win ever, its about time!! We had a great car the whole night, was a little loose coming off, but I think everybody was as the night went on! Running in first place for those last twenty six laps seemed to be the longest laps ever!! But we pulled one through as a team! I'm sure there is many more wins to come!!
